KöR Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a common cosmetic dental treatment because of its easy procedure and effective results. While most dentists boast various whitening treatments, Glow Dental Dallas uses only the world’s most effective whitening system. KöR whitening uses a specialized whitening gel that must be refrigerated to deliver whitening agents to your tooth. KöR believes that refrigerating their whitening gel stops the gel from degenerating during the shipping and storing process. Constant refrigeration ensures that their whitening gel will maintain 100% effectiveness from its date of manufacture to its date of use. Because of this, their whitening gel has been proven to have great results and can remove even the toughest of stains

Did You Know?

KöR Whitening uses a unique whitening system that combines effective whitening agents with an effective application method. Unlike most whitening procedures that are only active for about 25-35 minutes, KöR Whitening is actively whitening your teeth for over six hours.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Am I a candidate for KöR Whitening?

You may be a candidate for KöR whitening if you have stained or discolored teeth and you are looking to improve the aesthetics of your smile by removing these stains and whitening your teeth. Additionally, ideal candidates are free from tooth decay or gum disease. Finally, if you are having a permanent restoration placed, you may opt to have your teeth whitened so that the color of the permanent restoration can match your new smile. How does KöR Whitening work?

KöR Whitening works in a similar way as other teeth whitening products. When the gel is applied to your teeth, it is absorbed into the enamel and dentin layers. Once inside, the hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel stimulates an oxidation reaction that effectively breaks down the chemical bonds of discolored molecules. This breakdown of the discolored molecules results in teeth that are restored to their previous, natural color.

Although the method that KöR Whitening uses is the same as other whitening products, it is the whitening gel itself that varies. Because KöR Whitening gel is constantly refrigerated, the product maintains a higher level of potency than other whitening gels. Because the whitening gel is fully potent, it produces a higher amount of free radicals that are necessary to stimulate and diffuse the chemical reactions that cause whitening to occur.

Another reason that KöR differs from traditional whitening systems is that it uses specialized trays that can seal out saliva. Saliva contains an enzyme called peroxidase that can hinder the oxidation process, causing it to be less effective. In fact, saliva can completely break down 29mg of peroxide per minute. Using trays that seal out saliva ensures that the whitening agent can do its job more effectively, meaning more dramatic results.

What can I expect when receiving KöR Whitening treatment from Glow Dental Dallas?

KöR Whitening is available as an in-office or take home treatment. In most cases, it is recommended to complete both an in-office and take home treatment to obtain the best results and maintain your results.

In-office KöR Whitening treatments include KöR Max, KöR Ultra, and KöR Ultra-T. KöR Max is the most commonly used in-office treatment because it is versatile and effective. It combines a single office visit with 2 weeks of at-home night whitening to achieve the best results against most types of stains.

KöR Ultra is used for more moderate stains, such as those caused by fluorosis and age. KöR Ultra begins with an in-office visit that uses the 13% whitening gel, then does 3-4 weeks of at-home night whitening, and finishes with another in-office visit with the 34% whitening gel.

KöR Ultra-T is used for the most severe stains, such as those caused by tetracycline. For the longest time, these types of stains were thought to be untreatable. KöR Ultra-T starts with an in-office visit using the 13% whitening gel, then does 6-8 weeks of night whitening, and finishes with another in-office visit using the 34% whitening gel.

As you can see, KöR Whitening uses both in-office and at home methods. For your at home treatment, you have two different options: KöR-Night™ and KöR-Day™. KöR-Night™  is generally the best option because whitening is more effective at night, so you will get the most bang for your buck. In most cases, KöR-Night™ is used every night for about 2 weeks.

KöR-Day™ can also be used by those who cannot or do not want to wear whitening trays while sleeping. Instead, these trays are worn during the day for shorter periods of time. Because of this, they may also be a good option for those with sensitive teeth. KöR-Day™ trays are generally worn for about 2 weeks, sometimes longer depending on the individual case.

How long does KöR Whitening last?

Because KöR Whitening uses both an in-office and at home approach, it can deliver long lasting results and is more permanent than other whitening treatments. In fact, KöR Whitening can actually restore your teeth’s ability to absorb oxygen and eliminate stains on their own. Because of this, only occasional maintenance is needed to maintain your results. Furthermore, highly pigmented materials such as red wine, coffee, tea, and others will not affect your results.

How will I maintain my whitening results?

KöR Whitening has an accelerated maintenance program that it offers all its patients to maintain their results after the initial whitening treatment. This accelerated maintenance program will begin just after you finish your at home whitening gel.

The exact time frames for this program can vary depending on your results, your willingness to participate, and the severity and type of your initial stains. An example of an accelerated maintenance program may look like wearing your trays three nights a week for a month, then only two nights a week per month, then only one night a week for a month, and then one night every other week for a month.

Can I use KöR Whitening if I have sensitive teeth?

Yes! KöR Whitening can be used with KöR Desensitizer for those with sensitive teeth. KöR Desensitizer actually prevents sensitivity by directly plugging the dentinal tubules to prevent the whitening agents from irritating the nerve. Most other whitening treatments actually open these tubules as a result of oxidation. This is why whitening sensitivity is so common. To avoid this, KöR Desensitizer is applied both before an in-office treatment and then daily by the patient for at home treatments. Once the desensitizer is applied, it closes the dentinal tubules and prevents tooth sensitivity from occurring.
